Alcon LADARVision 4000 Laser

Glossary:  the Alcon LADARVision is one of three popular lasers used in laser eye surgery along with the VISX Star S4, and the B&L Technolas 217.  In head to head comparisons, patients were asked to evaluate their vision with a Custom LASIK treatment by a different laser in each eye.  Alcon's LADARVision was a 4-to-1 favorite over the VISX laser, and a 3-to-1 favorite over the B&L laser.      

     Using laser and radar technology developed by NASA, LADARVision was the first approved system with active eye tracking, which compensates for involuntary eye movements. LADARVision has the only system utilizing laser radar tracking technology.  Using this system, the laser tracks your position 4000 times a second, more than 20 times faster than any other system.  Now you can relax, were tracking you!

     LADARVision is the only Excimer laser system with an FDA-approved claim showing that it’s tracker improves the accuracy of your treatment.

     LADARVision has the broadest range of approvals of any FDA-approved Excimer laser and makes it the only one capable of treating all types of refractive errors including nearsightedness, farsightedness and, astigmatism.

     LADARVision’s unique small-spot laser beam (less than one millimeter in diameter) offers micron size reshaping of the cornea resulting in an extremely smooth surface. LADARVision’s ability to use a larger optical zone for treatments minimizes potential nighttime side effects of glare, halos, and starbursts. This feature is especially important for patients with large pupils.
 

    When coupled with the LadarWave wavefront measuring system, the LADARVision laser can correct for distortions in your vision even beyond what can be corrected for with glasses and contacts.  CustomVision™ treatments at StahlVision using this wavefront guided technology has 99.2% of patients seeing 20/20 and more than 83% seeing better than 20/20.  For most patients, that is better than they ever saw with glasses or contacts.
