Dysport is a medical treatment and may cause side effects. Common or temporary effects may include:
- Redness, tenderness, swelling, or bruising at the injection site
- Headache
- Temporary discomfort
- Nose or throat irritation
- Mild asymmetry
- Eyelid or eyebrow drooping
- Dryness, tearing, or changes around the eyes
- An undesired change in facial expression
- Temporary weakness in nearby muscles
- An unsatisfactory or uneven cosmetic result
Some side effects may require time to resolve because Dysport cannot be immediately reversed after it has been injected.
Rarely, the effects of botulinum toxin may spread beyond the injection area and cause serious symptoms, including generalized muscle weakness, double or blurred vision, drooping eyelids, difficulty speaking, loss of bladder control, or difficulty swallowing or breathing. These symptoms may occur hours, days, or weeks after treatment and require immediate medical attention.
Contact the office with concerns following treatment. Seek emergency medical care immediately for difficulty breathing, swallowing, or speaking.
